Unai Elordi receives Fundación ASISA Research Award

We are pleased to announce that Unai Elordi, researcher affiliated with the Computer Vision and Pattern Discovery (CVPD) group, has been selected as one of the five winners of the first Fundación ASISA Research Awards in the health research category.

The award recognizes his project on the development of a clinical decision support system for the early detection of idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus (iNPH) using video analytics and artificial intelligence.

🎯 Project overview

The awarded research focuses on creating an AI-powered clinical decision support tool that leverages video analytics and computer vision techniques to enable early detection of idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus, a neurological condition that affects gait and mobility in elderly patients.

This work aligns with the CVPD group’s research lines in:

• Computer vision and gait analysis
• Machine learning and deep learning for biomedical applications
• Clinical decision support systems
• Video-based human pose estimation and movement analysis

💰 Award details

Fundación ASISA has granted this award as part of its first call for research and social action support, with a total investment of 60,000 euros distributed across ten projects (five in health research and five in social initiatives).

Each selected project receives a grant of 6,000 euros to support the research work. The foundation has announced that this program will continue with a new edition in 2027.
