IEMSB project officially funded by the Basque Government
We are pleased to announce that the Imaging Empowered Multiscale Biophysics (IEMSB) project has been officially funded by the Basque Government through the Ayudas para apoyar las actividades de grupos de investigación del sistema universitario vasco (2026-2029) programme.
Led by Dr. Virginia Martinez-Martinez and Dr. Ignacio Arganda-Carreras, IEMSB brings together researchers from the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) and the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) at the Instituto Biofisika. The project connects molecular, cellular and tissue scales through advanced imaging, artificial intelligence, chemistry and quantitative biophysics.
The initiative will run from 2026 to 2029 and has been awarded 649,000 EUR. Its research is organised around structural biology and cellular architecture, tissue biophysics, AI-based imaging tools, and chemistry-driven tools for imaging, in close coordination with the Basque imaging platforms BRALM, BREM and BRAIIAN.
