The Computer Vision and Pattern Discovery (CVPD) group at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) is offering a fully funded 4-year PhD position within the recently awarded project TOSBI: Towards Scalable and Generalized Solutions in Biomedical Images, supported by the Spanish State Agency for Research (AEI).

🎉 Congratulations to Bouthaina Slika on the successful defense of her PhD thesis,
“Advancing Pulmonary Disease Assessment in Medical Imaging: Deep Regression and Data Augmentation Techniques”, on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 (10:30 am) at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU)!

Her thesis was supervised by Dr. Fadi Dornaika and Dr. Karim Hammoudi.

🎓 On May 2nd, 2025, our colleague Mohamad Abou Ali successfully defended his PhD thesis at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU), wrapping up years of innovative research at the intersection of artificial intelligence and medical imaging.

🎉 Congratulations to Zoulfikar Ibrahim, who successfully defended his PhD thesis titled “Towards Scalable Semi-supervised Learning on Graphs” on April 29th, 2025! 🎉

Our colleague Nagore Barrena, Assistant Professor at UPV/EHU and researcher in the CVPD group, participated in the “Emakume Zientzialariak Atzo eta Gaur” event, part of the Women in Science 2025 program, held on February 10 at the Sala Club of the Victoria Eugenia Theater in Donostia.

Our researcher Ignacio Arganda-Carreras, and PhD students Aitor González-Marfil and Daniel Franco-Barranco, collaborated in a novel deep learning method called AINU (Artificial Intelligence of the Nucleus) that can identify specific nuclear signatures at nanoscale resolution.
