Nagore Barrena is an Assistant Professor at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) and a researcher in the Computer Vision & Pattern Discovery (CVPD) group. She holds a PhD in Computer Engineering (Cum Laude, 2019), an MSc in Computational Engineering and Intelligent Systems, and a BSc in Computer Engineering, all from UPV/EHU.
Her research centers on computer vision and deep learning, with applications in biomedical and natural image analysis, including facial analysis, image segmentation, and robotics. She has contributed to numerous national and international R&D projects in areas such as augmented reality, industrial robotics, surgical simulation, autonomous drones, and health monitoring.
Before her academic appointment, Nagore worked as a researcher at Tecnalia Research & Innovation and Vicomtech Foundation, and later as Innovation Manager at Egile Group, bridging research and industrial R&D strategy.
She has co-authored high-impact journal papers (e.g., Information Fusion, Knowledge-Based Systems, Applied Intelligence, Cognitive Computation) and participated in leading conferences including ICIP and IGARSS.
Nagore is also an active educator, teaching in undergraduate and master’s programs related to Computer Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, and Language Technologies at UPV/EHU.
