Fadi Dornaika is an Ikerbasque Research Professor at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU), where he leads the Computer Vision and Pattern Discovery (CVPD) group. He earned his PhD from the Grenoble Institute of Technology (INRIA), France, with a thesis on geometric modeling for vision and robotics. Before joining UPV/EHU, he held research positions at leading institutions in France, Germany, Hong Kong, Sweden, Canada, and Spain.

His work spans computer vision, pattern recognition, machine learning, and image processing, with a strong focus on semi-supervised learning, multiview clustering, and deep learning for biomedical image analysis. He has published over 440 scientific papers, including more than 190 indexed peer-reviewed articles in journals such as IEEE Transactions, Information Fusion, Pattern Recognition, Medical Image Analysis, and Artificial Intelligence Review.

Fadi has been principal investigator on numerous national and international projects, including those funded by the Spanish MICINN, UPV/EHU, and Henan University (China). His h-index is 41, and he has been listed in the Stanford Top 2% Most Influential Scientists ranking.

He currently supervises 10 PhD students working on diverse topics including face analysis, biomedical imaging, structured deep learning, and undersea monitoring. His commitment to mentoring and interdisciplinary collaboration continues to shape both foundational theory and real-world applications in AI and computer vision.
